**The latest news from our campaign...**

About 1,100 miles of offshore rocks and islands on the California coastline are currently designated as a national monument. The vast majority of this area is inaccessible--only to be viewed through binoculars.

The California Coastal National Monument is made up of 20,000 rocks and islands and currently one on-shore area. Managed by the BLM and designated in 2000 by President Bill Clinton, the monument is managed by the Bureau of Land Management with cooperation from community groups up and down the state.  Currently, there is a major, state-wide effort to add six areas to the monument, greatly expanding its scope and allowing these priceless special places to be protected for the future. You can take action by adding your name to our petition.
